Classes
Hip Hop

Street style of dance; movement includes elements of popping, locking, footwork, freezes and video choreography.  Recommended for ages 6+.

Dress Attire: Dance shorts, dance pants or sweat pants, t-shirt and Pastry Sweet sneakers (can be ordered at Turning Pointe).*

Hair: Bun, Ponytail, or Braid

Musical Theatre

Designed to portray a character of Broadway play or movie musical song through the use of dance, acting, and singing.  Recommended for ages 6+.

Dress Attire: Black biker shorts, black leotard, tan tights, and tan jazz boots.*

Hair: Bun

Acrobatics

Develops balance, strength and flexibility through floor exercise and tumbling movements with the aid of mats.

Dress Attire: Black biker shorts, black leotard, and tan convertible tights.*  (Acro 2 class – dance paws).*

Hair: Bun

Tap

Concentrates on rhythm and tap technique.  Recommended for ages 6+.

Dress Attire: Black biker shorts, black leotard, tan tights, black slip on jazz tap boots.*

Hair: Bun

Pointe

Classical ballet technique wearing pointe shoes.   This class is by invitation only (2 ballet class requirement).

Dress Attire: Black leotard, pink tights, and pink pointe shoes.*

Hair: Bun

Lyrical

Interprets the lyrics or mood (intent) of music using a combination of ballet, modern, and jazz technique.  Recommended for students who have a good ballet foundation.

Dress Attire: Black biker shorts, black leotard, tan tights and tan jazz boots.*

Hair: Bun

Modern

Abstract movement which increases flexibility, strength and control of various parts of the body.  Recommended for students who have a good ballet foundation.

Dress Attire: Black biker shorts, black leotard, and convertible tights.*

Hair: Bun

Contemporary

Intensive movements incorporating different styles of ballet and jazz  with classical foundation.  Recommended for students who have a good ballet and jazz foundation.

Dress Attire: Black biker shorts, black leotard, tan convertible tights, and turners.*

Hair: Bun

Jazz

Free form movement and stylized technique through the use of isolations and syncopated movements performed to contemporary music.  Recommended for ages 6+.

Dress Attire: Black biker shorts, black leotard, tan tights, and tan jazz boots. *

Hair: Bun

Ballet

Develops grace, poise, body alignment and discipline through ballet technique.  Ballet is considered to be the foundation of all artistic dance.  Recommended for ages 6+.

Dress Attire: Black leotard, pink tights, and pink stretch ballet slippers.*

Hair: Bun

Creative

Introduction to dance designed to develop coordination, grace, and flexibility involving ballet, tap and creative movement.  Recommended for 3-4 year olds.

Dress Attire: Leotard (without skirt), tights of any color, pink stretch ballet slippers (purchased at Turning Pointe), and black tap shoes.*  No skirts allowed.

Hair: Bun, Ponytail, or Braid

Baton Twirling

Twirling is a great activity because it helps develop spatial awareness, fine motor skills, as well as hand-eye coordination. Students will also develop strength, flexibility and stamina, as well as poise and a positive body image, by participating in the sport of baton twirling.

Dress Attire:Black biker shorts, a black leotard and tan jazz boots.*

Hair: Bun

Combination

(4-6 year olds)

Introduction to dance designed to develop coordination, grace, and flexibility involving ballet, tap and jazz.

Dress Attire: Leotard (without skirt), tights of any color, pink stretch ballet slippers (purchased at Turning Pointe), and black tap shoes.*  No skirts allowed.

Combination

(6-8 years old)

General Attire Guidelines

Sports bras without leotards may only be worn by level 6 dancers (this rule doesn’t apply to ballet).

*Male Dancers: Solid white t-shirt (tight fitted) and black jazz pants or black shorts

Jewelry

Jewelry is not to be worn to class.  Dancers will be asked to remove all jewelry prior to participating in class.  (The only exception to this rule is post style earrings.)

Tights

Tights with holes larger than a quarter will not be allowed to be worn to class.
